Credits & Data Sources

The app knows a lot about your water. Almost none of that started with us.

Last updated: September 3, 2026

Get Hooked! reads from a dozen outside sources. Some require credit by licence and some are public domain; all of them are listed, because a partial credits page is worse than none.

Maps and places

© Mapbox — every map in the app: the tiles, the styles, the basemap thumbnails and address search. About Mapbox maps · Terms

© OpenStreetMap contributors — the map data underneath, plus the place, marina and boat-ramp lookups we build from it. Licensed under the Open Database License (ODbL); see OpenStreetMap copyright. Reached through Mapbox, Nominatim and Overpass.

The bottom

State natural-resources agencies (Ohio DNR and counterparts in Michigan, Minnesota, Indiana and Illinois) · NOAA NCEI — the depth contours, reefs, structure, fish attractors and lakebed data behind the app's bathymetry, built from public sources into our own dataset. The Great Lakes come from NCEI's bathymetric grids and the six coastal regions from NCEI's Coastal Relief Model. Coverage grows state by state.

Public-domain sources, with thanks

These are works of the US federal government and carry no copyright. Credit is courtesy rather than obligation, and the app would be a fraction of itself without them.

Your own data is not in this list

Your catches, spots, trips and photos are yours. We do not pool them across anglers, we do not sell them, and nothing about them is sourced from anyone above. See the Privacy Policy and the Terms of Use.
